I haven’t posted about trends in a little while, mainly because being in the throes of Winter and then sliding now into the transition of Spring make it firstly a little tricky for dressing, and secondly, I’m not in the mood to shop. Continue reading “Gingham Checks”
One of the key influencers for the past couple of seasons since SS16 has been the trusty shirt. Continue reading “Deconstructed Shirts”
New Year, New You…isn’t that how it starts for everyone? Continue reading “Lagom In 2017”
With christmas around the corner, it will be 2017 before you know it. I for one will be making my usual list of new years resolutions and proclaiming that this year will in fact be ‘my year’, however we all know how the story goes.
But, with a new year in tow comes a new wardrobe and new trends. One which I am particularly fond of and will be big for next year is the Bell Sleeve; cue larger than life trumpet sleeves in all shapes and sizes, cropped, long, ruffled, embellished. The only thing that matters is that it flares!
There is quite a lot of choice around currently in the form of shirting and knitwear, which if I was you I would keep an eye on in the sale. Some of my favourites have been in H&M (Sold out already!) and ASOS.
This is one item you need to pick up now, keep it neutral and you will wear it with layers now and all through spring when the temperatures thaw.
I recently went on a trip to Abu Dhabi and stayed at the Rosewood; it’s one of the most luxurious hotels I’ve ever stayed in and truly gave me an amazing break with the best service 24/7.
One of the perks of the trip was the access to The Manor Club Lounge, which was a chic James Bond-esque lounge that made you feel on top of the world every time you entered. The first thing I noticed was the impeccably dressed bartender, always sporting a beautifully tailored burgundy velvet tuxedo jackets reminiscent of Tom Ford.
From then on I was drawn to velvet and left after my holiday pining for one myself, but in a more relaxed casual cut. I saw the most perfect one at Balmain below but a little out of my price budget…
Just when I had forgotten about my velvet crush, when I was in Bruges this weekend I unexpectedly came across this one at Sissy Boy (my new favourite store and I will be blogging about it later this week). It is the perfect mix of high low dressing, a super casual yet elegant cut and in a beautiful navy/grey colour that is perfect for dressing up denim on an evening.
Some more inspiration of this AW16 trend is above for the best ways to wear yours this season. The perfect option from Desk to Dinner for christmas parties and if you really want to up your game, why not go head to toe in a velvet suit!
