Fika, Food & Fashion – Stockholm’s Best

Fika, Food & Fashion – Stockholm’s Best

It’s been too long since I was last in Scandinavia and in particular Stockholm, somewhere I would happily visit every year for my fix of great coffee and cool clothes.

Stockholm Style

Whilst in Stockholm it become obvious after only a few hours that my preconceptions of Scandinavians being cool was true; but way cooler than I thought. I didn’t see a single person dressed badly, not even a single person having an ‘off day’. Everyone was dressed with that achingly effortless vibe, the sort that looks straight out of an Acne lookbook.

Women in a simple uniform which consisted of a great tailored coat in classic colours, along with a simple wool tassel scarf in Grey, Camel or Black. Followed by a great structured cross body bag and finished off with flats (always); either trainers in the style of Stan Smiths or New Balance, or a classic black ankle boot.

Not forgetting a compulsory pair of sunglasses of your choosing, whatever they were they always finished off the outfit to the next level.

With that in mind, I obviously came away with something to add into my outfits and continue the Scandi dressing at home; my Samsoe bag from my previous post. I also got a lovely wool scarf in grey as a gift for my birthday too, which came in handy with the chilly wind there!

All I need now to complete my wardrobe is a pair of great boots, my obvious choice would be the Acne Jensen Boot or a beautiful pair I saw in Fillipa K, this will now be on my radar as they can be easily worn for the rest of spring with tights or bare legs as it gets warmer and then all FW16.

Until it is Autumn again, I will be saving my money up for a classic coat which will most definitely be wool or if I am lucky a wool blend with cashmere, probably Navy and beautifully tailored.

Stockholm style has my heart.

Samsøe Stockholm

I have been in Stockholm for a birthday weekend and had the best time. It truly lived up to what I was expecting; COOL- such happy people, amazing fashion and gastronomic food. Oh and the Fika (having coffee often with friends).

So whilst I was there I had some monetary gifts off family and decided to splurge on something typically Scandinavian. I had spent the first day checking out all the cool brands such as Acne, Hope, Filipa K, J Lindeberg and Samsøe and as you would imagine came away wanting everything and a bigger bank account.

However, one thing in particular really caught my eye at Samsøe. A beautiful burgundy leather bag, structured and with gold hardware (two combos I love!). So after a nights sleep and another day sightseeing and perusing in Mood and NK I decided to go and buy the bag which I hadn’t stopped thinking about since setting my eyes on it.

Samsøe is definitely my favourite brand I came across, everything in store was beautifully made and luxurious fabrics but all with a very minimalist and fun feel. Great colours and items which you would truly wear all the time, becoming wardrobe staples.

Scandinavian fashion, as always, has been a huge influence for me, however now after a weekend in the heart of it all, its safe to say I will be buying more and have gone to the dark side.
