Velvet Crush

I recently went on a trip to Abu Dhabi and stayed at the Rosewood; it’s one of the most luxurious hotels I’ve ever stayed in and truly gave me an amazing break with the best service 24/7.

One of the perks of the trip was the access to The Manor Club Lounge, which was a chic James Bond-esque lounge that made you feel on top of the world every time you entered. The first thing I noticed was the impeccably dressed bartender, always sporting a beautifully tailored burgundy velvet tuxedo jackets reminiscent of Tom Ford.

From then on I was drawn to velvet and left after my holiday pining for one myself, but in a more relaxed casual cut. I saw the most perfect one at Balmain below but a little out of my price budget…

Balmain Velvet Blazer

Just when I had forgotten about my velvet crush, when I was in Bruges this weekend I unexpectedly came across this one at Sissy Boy (my new favourite store and I will be blogging about it later this week). It is the perfect mix of high low dressing, a super casual yet elegant cut and in a beautiful navy/grey colour that is perfect for dressing up denim on an evening.

Some more inspiration of this AW16 trend is above for the best ways to wear yours this season. The perfect option from Desk to Dinner for christmas parties and if you really want to up your game, why not go head to toe in a velvet suit!

The New Stripe

I love colour, my wardrobe has an array of colours in it and I certainly don’t shy away from it. One trend which is my favourite for SS15 is the new futuristic stripes seen on every runway, nearly every collection offered an amazing take on what is normally a classic sailor stripe.
The only way to embrace colour and this trend is to go for it, go bold, go bright, go multi coloured, go head to toe and go big. It’s fun, super cool and if I even look as half as chic as the models at Suno this summer then I am winning.

Flared Trousers Are Back

Ditch those skinnies, the new shape to be seen is the ultra flattering flare.

Seen everywhere on the SS15 runways and still around in Pre-Fall collections, they are uber comfy and in an array of prints, colours and sizes. Whether you go for a full on flare like Dsquared and Balmain, or a slight kick as seen at Cynthia Rowley, just be sure to go bold and make them the centre piece of your outfit.

Team with a balanced silhouette on top, or go big with a matchy matchy print. Wear towering heels to give some lift, or if you are lucky and over 5ft 8, then channel your inner model with some pointy flats or brogues for the ultimate off duty chic as seen at Gucci and Sonia Rykiel.
