Dare I say it, but summer might have arrived…10 days in and this consistent sunshine is glorious. I love the idea of being more playful when it comes to summer dressing, but in reality I really need staples to anchor my wardrobe so that my morning routine is simple and I can get out of the door quickly (who else snoozes their alarm?).
With that in mind I have compiled an edit of what I think are key wardrobe pieces for summer that will make getting ready a breeze, as well as giving longevity to any fun, interest pieces which you can then wear multiple times.
This should be in a loose cut which skims the hips. Theres nothing worse than being in something clingy when it’s hot. My favourite at the moment is this one from Next.
I have two Denim jackets; one acid blue wash and the other in a vintage indigo. Both are from J Crew and both are amazing. I know they are pricey, but they really are worth it and fit impeccably.
My favourite striped shorts to date are from Boden many years ago. They have a similar style called the Richmond, but sadly no stripe option this season. However, I spied these new ones which tick two boxes with the added belt detail and cotton/linen blend.
Since these will be your go to with every outfit they need to be comfortable and in my opinion should be leather. ASOS have some great options at the moment and reasonably prices like this pair.
Whatever you go for, just make sure it is oversized and cool. Play with texture and always roll the sleeves up with some buttons undone for an effortless vibe. GAP are always good for that boyfriend cut.
I love a pleated skirt for winter or summer. It is so versatile with tights when its colder, white trainers in spring and come summer any statement sandal. Add a graphic tee and you are good to go.
Last but not least, just like every wardrobe should have a basic white tee. For summer, it’s a staple to have basic cami in black and white to pair with any printed pieces you have.
