I’m back…well, at least the less stressed and more empty minded me. I can’t remember the last time I posted and that isn’t a good sign, but I have been wrapped up in planning and booking AW18 collections and have only just come up for air!
If like me you have been clinging on for dear life through the longest month in the year (5 Mondays and 5 weeks since payday FYI) then you probably haven’t bought anything in the sales yet. So what better way to say goodbye to January, than with some hidden gems in the sale. P.S. Is it just me or was payday like winning the lottery after what seemed like a 74 day month?
This is where some tactical spending comes in, because all of your favourite stores are now 70% off and with a nimble eye you can really pick up some amazing finds. I know, you are probably thinking that the riff raff is left in every store, but don’t be fooled!

They key to a good sale purchase is to think long term and only buy items which will stand the test of time. Think of basics with a little extra and definitely buy quality pieces! Cashmere & Leather are always great investments in sales and as long as you purchase in classic colours such as Navy, Black and Tan then these will be wardrobe staples for years.
My personal favourite sale is always Gap, because you can never have enough denim. But also of late, Mint Velvet – somewhere I always thought was for a older demographic, but I stand corrected after seeing their sale. What caught my eye was the effortless collection with an everyday luxe approach to it, not to mention the Scandinavian aesthetic and pared back colour palette. They will be a firm go to next time they have a sale and i have already signed up to their emails.
So you might wonder what I have bought in the sales? The truth is not a lot. However, I did find a pair of black ankle boots which I had been toying over buying for a few months, as my current ones do the job just fine… but then I was scrolling through ASOS and found a great pair for a steal at £24.50 reduced from £55 (plus real leather).
What tipped me over the edge was that they ticked two boxes, 1. Quality and 2. A staple but with a nod to the new Western trend you’ll soon be seeing, but more on that later.
