How To Shop Like A Local In Copenhagen

As promised, I am posting today about the best shopping spots in Copenhagen. These are some of my favourite brands which stock the best in Scandinavian style and are sure to give you a unique point of difference in your current wardrobe.

I have tried to pick all the ones which you can only find in Denmark/Copenhagen so that you get the best experience of where the local’s all shop and create their amazing street style worthy outfits.

Yvonne Kone Bags

This is in my opinion the place to go for one of a kind bags which no one else will have. They are all impeccably made in Italy with the finest leather and attention to detail and great use of hardware. Yvonne Koné is a graduate of the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and in only a mere 5 years established herself as one of the go to designers for bags in Denmark. One thing is certain, if you buy any of her bags or shoes you are sure to be investing in the best quality and pieces which will stand the test of time.

Day Birger Et Mikkelsen Copenhagen

Most of you will have heard of this brand, a notable one for the whole of Danish Fashion and has been on our radar for years. Although, still worth mentioning because this is where the flagship store is and that in it’s own right is worth a visit. The brands aim has always been to create effortless, everyday sophisticated wear for the modern woman with a twist (think gypsy/exotic prints minimally done). My favourites from them has always been their accessories and in particular the Gwyneth tote for everyday essentials and a cool way to carry your laptop, or for SS17 their mini drawstring leather pouch in dusty rose.

Samsoe Samsoe Copenhagen

I first came across these in Stockholm last year, I instantly fell in love and wanted everything in store. And, due to being so taken with a burgundy bag that I just had to have for Fall I walked away the owner of my first Samsøe piece, have a look at my archived posts for more info on my trip to Stockholm. The store in Copenhagen is really cool and underground, a striking entrance and a whole room full of Men’s and Women’s clothing- think a Scandinavian Urban Outfitters with many a cool items to up your style stakes.

Moss Copenhagen

This is also a personal favourite, mainly because I had the pleasure on the Friday when I got to Copenhagen of visiting their office and showroom to have a sneak peek at AW17 (you are all in for a treat!). Moss is the place to go for all the wardrobe staples you could need, think Sweaters, Knitwear, Shirts etc but with a Scandi twist. I had to control myself with my spending this time, but if I didn’t I would have walked away with half the shop! A must visit for great mid-priced styles.

Weekday Copenhagen

This is a good place to go scope out the newest trends and pick up cheap pieces for quick updates to your wardrobe. They are what I would call the Danish version of H&M and always full of young, edgy people which is a sure sign you are in a good spot for finding gems. On top of this they stock Cheap Monday (Swedish Export) denim which is so good and affordable for perfect fitting and on trend denim. Weekday also does amazing sales and seasonal offers, so it’s definitely worth popping in to find yourself a bargain!

Magasin Du Nord Copenhagen

A Danish Department store (Flagship too), but before you make judgements about it being a department store I promise it’s worth your time- also the building is Renaissance style built in 1893 so enough to just look at from the outisde. From the impeccable beauty department with every brand you can think of including Sephora, to the 3 floors of Scandinavian fashion 4 including the accessories. Topped off by a lust worthy homeware department to make you want to overhaul your house! And if you are worn out after all the store has to offer, head up to the top floor for their restaurant which has views over Nyhaven Harbour and a unique dining setting- just go see for yourself.

Lastly, a hidden gem and worthy of it’s appointment by the Queen of Denmark. From the moment you walk in you are immersed in an all wooden delight full to the brim of Scandinavian designers to stock your home. If you want modern living, extraordinary craftsmanship and items to last generations then this is the place to shop (just have your credit cards ready!). Or if you simply want to admire, then go get lost in here for the afternoon exploring all the little coves across multiple floors.
