Deconstructed Shirts

One of the key influencers for the past couple of seasons since SS16 has been the trusty shirt.

SS16 was off the shoulder, AW16 was the bell sleeve and moving into SS17 it is now about extra details; tie waists, ruching, buttons and long cuffs.

This trend showed up in NYFW and was seen at Victoria Beckham, Alexander Wang, Jacquemus and Marques Almeida to name a few. What is consistent across all the varieties though, is that the favoured style is blue striped; so, a menswear element but made feminine and wearable with the interesting details.

If you already own a shirt like this then great, or if your guy has one then make it work- button it backwards, let the double cuff hang loose and belt it for an envious street style vibe. If you don’t feel brave enough to do this then don’t panic, there are plenty of options to ease into this and make your everyday shirt more current.
